Carteret County Child Support Services encourages parental responsibility so that children receive financial, emotional, and medical support from both parents, even when they live in separate households. Services are available to any parent or legal guardian responsible for a child, regardless of income. Individuals currently receiving Work First, family Medicaid, or Child Care subsidies are automatically referred to the local child support agency for services.
Child Support provides the following services:
- Establish paternity for children born outside of marriage
- Establish support obligations
- Enforce support obligations
- Locate non-custodial parents and their assets
- Modify orders when appropriate
Additionally, interstate services are provided. The Child Support staff can work with other states to assist with location, establishment, and enforcement of court orders when a party resides out of state.
Child Support applicants may apply from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. You may call 252-728-3181 to request an application be mailed to you or pick up an application at Carteret County DSS. Completed applications should be returned to Carteret County DSS, Child Support Enforcement, 210 Craven Street, Beaufort, NC 28516.

Customer Service Center
Either party may call the customer service center at 1-800-992-9457 for payment and case information. The automated system is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and customer service representatives are available Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
You can access your case information and apply for child support services at North Carolina Child Support Services. You will be required to set up a NCID and password in order to access your case information online.
