Emergency Preparedness

The County of Carteret is committed to ensuring your safety. The County has emergency preparedness plans in the event of a disaster or emergency, including but not limited to the impact of a hurricane to our area, or a public health crisis such as COVID-19.

Hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30 annually, yet it's recommended to prepare your family and your home for storm season year-round. In North Carolina, have a solid plan in place and making sure your family is up to date on developments must be a priority.

In a major disaster, emergency workers may not be able reach everyone right away. In some cases, it may take three or more days for help to arrive. Remember, "the first 72 (hours) are up to you." Develop a plan for you home, family and business to ensure your comfort and safety for at least three days following a storm or other emergency/disaster.
