The mission of Carteret County Emergency Services is to provide professional and cost-effective emergency and public safety planning, preparedness programs, response and recovery to the residents of Carteret County. With modern support systems and prompt and courteous service, this mission is accomplished through a dedicated and professional effort by all emergency service personnel.
The Carteret County Office of Emergency Management coordinates with county, municipal, state and federal agencies to provide protection to lives and property from natural, technological and man-made disasters as well as pandemic events.
Emergency Medical Services
Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is the Carteret County Department charged with providing high quality pre-hospital patient care, in-home preventative care, education, and direction, while coordinating a county-wide emergency medical system by working together with other agencies to deliver standardized care to the citizens and visitors of Carteret County. In addition, EMS maintains a state of readiness for disasters, mass casualty situations or any other emergencies whether they be manmade or natural.
The Carteret County 9-1-1 Emergency Communications Center offers a fast, effective communications link between the citizens of Carteret County and emergency response personnel, 24-hours a day. The Communications Center has experienced, certified telecommunicators who dispatch for multiple agencies, including Fire, EMS, Rescue, and Law Enforcement. The Communications Center is the primary Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) of Carteret County.
Office of the Fire Marshal
The Office of the Fire Marshal is responsible for enforcing the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code, overseeing the planning, coordinating, and administering of the countywide fire service programs involving inspections, plan reviews, fire code enforcement, fire prevention, fire investigations, and fire and life safety education programs.
