Medicare/SHIIP

The Carteret County Department of Senior Services offers assistance and information on the Medicare Supplement, Medicare Part D (medication coverage), and other Medicare-related topics. Their trained staff and volunteers stay up-to-date on Medicare changes and new programs designed to help senior citizens.

The department also provides SHIIP Counseling Services for Medicare Beneficiaries and Caregivers. These services cover Medicare, Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, Long Term Care Insurance, and other insurance concerns. For assistance, contact the State SHIIP office at 1-855-408-1212. SHIIP is a division of the NC Department of Insurance.

Medicare Open Enrollment Period

The Medicare Open Enrollment Period takes place each year from October 15th to December 7th. Call to schedule an appointment with one of our SHIIP counselors.

The NC Department of Insurance recommends reviewing Medicare plans annually.
