CARTERET COUNTY, NC (October 16, 2023) – The Carteret County Health Department (CCHD) is offering residents, aged 12 and older, a flu and COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the CCHD located at 3820-A Bridges St. in Morehead City. The clinic is scheduled on Wednesday, Oct. 18 from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Regular and high-dose flu vaccines will be available at the clinic; updated COVID-19 vaccines will be available as inventory allows.
“The CDC recommends all eligible individuals to receive both your COVID-19 and flu shot to reduce your risk of severe illness and hospitalization during this viral respiratory season,” said County Health Director Nina Oliver. “Getting vaccinated is especially important for individuals at high risk of severe illness, including persons 50 years and older, persons with underlying conditions, including asthma, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and immunocompromising conditions.”
In order to streamline the clinic’s operations and ensure a safe and efficient experience for all participants, appointments are required. CCHD asks individuals interested in receiving vaccinations to schedule an appointment by calling 252-728-8550 and selecting option 2. Residents are advised to bring their insurance and ID cards; however, no one will be turned away.
CCHD encourages residents to make a plan if you are eligible to receive your flu and/or COVID-19 vaccines. The updated COVID-19 vaccine can be administered at the same time as the flu vaccine. Studies show that receiving both vaccines at once is safe and effective, and people who get both vaccines at once are no more likely to experience side effects than those who get them separately. For those interested in the clinic, the choice of receiving one or both vaccines are available.
