20231010 CC Voting 2023

CARTERET COUNTY, NC (November 6, 2023) – As the 2023 election season in Carteret County draws to a close, Early Voting ended on Saturday. However, for residents residing in a municipality, the opportunity to cast their votes still exists. Voters can do so at their home precincts during the 2023 Municipal Elections, taking place on Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2023. The polling places in Carteret County will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

On Tuesday, eligible voters will have 13 hours to head out and cast their votes on Election Day. As long as they are in line by 7:30 p.m., they will be able to cast their ballots. Voters can view a sample ballot, find their polling location and learn about the requirements to vote by looking up their voter record.

New this election, the state now requires voters to show a photo ID before voting. A full list of accepted voter IDs can be found on the NC State Board of Elections website at www.ncsbe.gov/voter-id.

Following the closure of the polls, the Board of Elections will begin the process of posting unofficial results from mail-in absentee ballots and Early Voting on the NCSBE results page. The initial returns from the Election Day precincts are expected to be available at approximately 10 p.m. It is worth noting that depending on factors such as line length at 7:30 p.m. and the distance from the Board of Elections, it may take an hour or more after 10 p.m. for all ballot tabulators to be returned and for the unofficial results to be posted.

More than 2,800 voters cast ballots during Early Voting in Carteret County, reflecting a voter turnout rate of 10.67%
