CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (June 30, 2025) – The candidate filing period for the 2025 municipal elections in Carteret County begins at 8 a.m. on Monday, July 7, and ends at 12 p.m. on Friday, July 18. Filing must be completed in person at the Carteret County Board of Elections, located at 1702 Live Oak St., Suite 200, Beaufort, NC.
The filing fee is $5, payable by cash or check. Prospective candidates can find additional filing information on the North Carolina State Board of Elections website at ncsbe.gov/candidates.
The following municipal offices are open for election:
- Town of Atlantic Beach: Mayor, five council seats
- Town of Beaufort: Two commissioner seats
- Town of Bogue: Mayor, two council seats
- Town of Cape Carteret: Three commissioner seats
- Town of Cedar Point: Three commissioner seats
- Town of Emerald Isle: Mayor, three commissioner seats
- Town of Indian Beach: Three commissioner seats
- Morehead City: Mayor, two council seats
- Town of Newport: Mayor, two council seats
- Town of Peletier: Three council seats
- Town of Pine Knoll Shores: Mayor, three commissioner seats
Election Day is Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
