The program offers a one-time annual vendor payment to help eligible households manage heating costs during the winter months. Priority applications will be accepted starting Dec. 2 for households meeting these criteria.

Some households will automatically receive benefits for the 2024-2025 LIEAP season if they meet the following criteria:

  1. Have a household member aged 60 or older or a person with a disability receiving DAAS services,
  2. Currently receives Food and Nutrition Services, and
  3. Received LIEAP benefits during the 2023-2024 season.

Households eligible for automatic payments were notified in November and do not need to apply.

Individuals who did not receive an automated eligibility notice are strongly encouraged to apply online at ePASS.nc.gov, by mail to P.O. Box 779, Beaufort, NC 28516, by fax to (252) 648-7462, or in person at the Department of Social Services (DSS) at 210 Craven Street, Beaufort.

Beginning Jan. 2, 2025, applications will open to all other households. Applications will be accepted online, by mail, by fax, or in person until March 31, 2025, or until funds are exhausted.

To qualify for LIEAP, households must:

  • Have at least one U.S. citizen or non-citizen who meets the eligibility criteria,
  • Have income equal to or less than 130% of the federal poverty limit, and
  • Be responsible for their heating costs.
