The following closures and service adjustments will take effect:

Essential public safety services, including the Sheriff’s Office and Emergency Services, will continue to operate without interruption. All other county services not listed above will close to the public starting at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday and remain closed Wednesday.

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused by these closures,” said interim County Manager Sharon Griffin. “The safety of our residents and employees is our top priority, and we appreciate the community’s understanding and cooperation during this winter storm.”

Carteret County has been actively preparing for the storm by coordinating with public safety teams, the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT), the National Weather Service office in Newport/Morehead City, and other local agencies. Public safety vehicles, equipment, and personnel are fully equipped and ready to respond.

Residents are urged to shelter in place as soon as the adverse weather begins, avoid unnecessary travel, and use 911 only for emergencies. If you rely on powered medical devices, please ensure you have a backup plan.
