CARTERET COUNTY, N.C. (May 21, 2025) – Carteret County Senior Services will host an open house for local seniors on Wednesday, May 28, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Leon Mann Jr. Enrichment Center, 3820 Galantis Drive, Morehead City.
The open house aims to showcase the diverse programs and services available at the Senior Center. Attendees can take facility tours and visit an information table offering details on:
- Senior Center activities
- SHIIP (Senior Health Insurance Information Program) Medicare Part D assistance
- Wellness programming
- Nutrition programs
Additionally, staff from the Area Agency on Aging will be present to share resources and explain their support for Carteret County Senior Services. This includes their Digital Navigator, who assists older adults with technology resources.
As an added benefit, the event will also include a free grocery and produce bag distribution. This initiative, funded by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), seeks to engage new participants and expand the Senior Center’s reach. Additional distribution events are planned for June, July, and August, with dates to be announced.
To qualify for a grocery and produce bag, individuals must be 60 years or older and a Carteret County resident. A brief registration form will be required at the event. The first 25 participants will receive a bag containing approximately six meals worth of nonperishable food items, supplemented with fresh produce from local Willis Farms.
Carteret County Senior Services encourages all eligible residents to attend this event and discover the many ways the center can support and enrich their lives.
