[ARCHIVED] Carteret County to Participate in “Operation Green Light” in Support of Veterans

20241030 OGL Veterans

CARTERET COUNTY, NC (October 31, 2025) – Carteret County will light the courthouse cupola green from Nov. 4–11 in observance of Operation Green Light for Veterans, a national initiative that honors military veterans and recognizes the sacrifices they and their families make.

Operation Green Light encourages communities to raise awareness about the challenges veterans face and the resources available at the county, state, and federal levels to support them.

“Operation Green Light is a simple but meaningful way for our community to show appreciation for those who have served,” said Chris Chadwick, Chairman of the Carteret County Board of Commissioners. “We encourage residents, businesses, and organizations across the county to participate by shining a green light in honor of our veterans.

Residents can join by replacing a light in their home with a green bulb. Exterior lights visible to neighbors or interior lights that spark conversation are both impactful ways to participate. Participants are encouraged to share photos on social media using #OperationGreenLight.

While the event coincides with Veterans Day, residents are encouraged to continue shining a green light year-round as a visible sign of support for veterans in the community.

Carteret County Veterans Services continues to assist veterans and their families throughout the year. For more information on available services, visit the Veterans Services office at 3710-B John Platt Drive, Morehead City, call (252) 728-8440, or visit the county website at https://www.carteretcountync.gov/159/Veterans-Services.

The Carteret County Board of Commissioners officially supported Operation Green Light through a proclamation passed at its Oct. 20, 2025 meeting. To view the proclamation, please click here.
